As an important member of our research team, the Post-Doctoral Fellow will focus principally on the continuing development of research skills and knowledge.  More specifically, this position’s research emphasis will be to determine the role of thioredoxin interacting protein in non-IgE mast cell activation in patients with chronic idiopathic urticaria.  This work will primarily involve mechanistic in vitro studies of mast cells, protein modifications using mass spectrometry and exposome analysis. 

Examples of Work Performed

  • Examines thioredoxin interacting protein in mast cells including protein knockdown and genetic manipulation.
  • Compiles and records observed experimental results, analyzes and interprets data, and documents results.
  • Collaborates with the principal investigator and other research staff to review scientific literature and develop experimental protocols.
  • Writes research proposal documents for grants purposes, manuscripts for publication in scientific journals, and documents lab results.
  • Applies for fellowships in an effort to develop an independent research program.
  • Keeps up to date on research and technical developments.
  • General laboratory administration, such as maintaining lab records, ensuring lab equipment is in general working order, general lab clean up, ordering lab supplies, completing requisition forms, processing financial transactions, and filing.

Salary Range

The salary for this position has been established at $53,760.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. in immunology, toxicology, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, chemistry or a closely related field.

 

Preferred Qualifications

    Experience with mast cell/allergy research is preferred.Experience with cell culture, research animals, and/or human subjects
 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Immunology/Toxicology.
  • Knowledge of experimental design and basic science techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.Outstanding customer service and interpersonal comunication skills.Excellent organizational skills, ability to problem-solve, multi-task, and work independently.Excellent attention to detail.Ability to interpret and comprehend complex research protocol information.Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office products.Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology.
