The Freeman Center is the focal point for Christopher Newport University’s indoor sport, recreation and health and wellness services along with providing a place for the university community to meet and for students to perform. The goal for this facility is to offer a quality “indoor” venue for athletic teams during Conference and NCAA competition, support the personal development and well-being of the members of the University community, and expand the reach of the University to the local, regional and National spotlight.Purpose of the Position:
This position will ensure the cleanliness of assigned areas by performing various housekeeping duties. It will also oversee the work of assigned housekeeping workers. Additionally, this position will assist in maintaining inventory and distribution of supplies.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) and/or Competencies required and preferred:
Required: Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to direct work assignments
Basic computer skills
Thorough knowledge of cleaning methods and cleaning supplies
Skilled in the use of housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaner, buffers and scrubber machines
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs., tolerate frequent bending, stooping and climbing stairs
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to communicate effectively and to maintain positive relations with faculty, staff and students
Ability to work 2nd shift hours, including weekends
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Preferred :
Previous supervisory experience
Experience in performing housekeeping work
Experience using a computer
Experience using various types of housekeeping equipment
