Requirements

Assistant Director of Development, Northeast - Office of Advancement - Georgetown University

The Assistant Director of Development, Northeast plays a crucial role in the execution of a regional strategy for the Northeast region team within the Office of Advancement, identifying and soliciting new major gift prospects; ensuring strong pipeline development from discovery to gift closing; and collaborating closely with other regional and unit development officers, as well as other Advancement teams such as Annual Fund, Alumni Relations, and Class Programs & Reunions. They are expected to secure outright gifts and new commitments in the 5- and low 6-figure range with a particular focus on alumni in the region who graduated in the preceding 20 years. Reporting to the Director of Development, Northeast, the Assistant Director of Development has duties that include but are not limited to:

Fundraising
  • Develop and implement effective strategy for attaining specific fundraising goals with undergraduate alumni and other donor prospects as possible
  • Consistently move prospects through the gift cycle - including meeting stated dollar and visit goals each year
  • Implement overall strategy for development initiatives in the northeast region, including coordination with other regions and units and other Advancement teams


Portfolio Management
  • Identify prospective donors to bolster fundraising efforts in the region; and manage a large portfolio with a heavy focus on identification, qualification, and cultivation
  • Coordination is also required with other Advancement teams that manage research and prospect identification


NE Market Strategy

Focus on targeted, development-focused gatherings in an effort to develop and bolster strong philanthropic relationships and maximize gift potential

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 2 to 3 years of relevant experience
