Position Description:
Serve as Associate Director for the Tadashi Yanai Initiative for Globalizing Japanese Humanities. This position has primary oversight and management of the endowment payout, events, publications, and all related programming for the Yanai Initiative conducted in professional and academic English and Japanese. Establish effective working relationships with internal and external partners including alumni, donors, faculty, staff and students, both verbally and in writing, and via print, broadcast and web-based media. In collaboration with Director, CAO and Chair, develop, implement marketing/public relations strategies that will increase the Initiative's visibility worldwide, to support recruitment of highly competitive, graduates and undergraduates, and promote alumni/donor development and fundraising activities. Conceptualize, create, research and write Initiative e-news letter, brochures, flyers, press releases, program descriptions, annual reports, and solicitation correspondence. Manage, research, solicit, write and post department news and events with relation to Yanai Initiative website, ensuring that integrity of information is maintained. The position will create, oversee, and execute the strategic vision of all Yanai Initiative events domestically and internationally. Prepare specialized financial reports for Director, CAO and Chair. Coordinate and collaborate with Divisional programs established by the Dean of Humanities and the Director of Yanai Initiative. Work collaboratively with UCLA development, alumni relations, and media relations staff. All job summaries above will be conducted in both English and Japanese.
