Responsibilities
  • Applies professional concepts to perform moderate to complex financial or resource analysis to understand past performance and determine present and future performance and / or resource allocations.
    • FP&A support for department budgets, Budgeting/Planning/Forecasting for core Haas operational departments, as assigned.
  • Provides analytical support for complex budget, financial, and resource analysis projects dealing directly with unit managers.
    • Annual Budget: Develop, coordinate, and implement Haas annual budget, includes coordinating CalPlanning activities with internal budget processes.
    • Forecast and Quarterly Review Process: Work with CFO, team members and unit leaders to develop a full year forecast (first half actuals, second half forecast) which will give insight to executive management on how we are doing vs. budget and if we need to course correct.
    • Fiscal and Monthly Close: Lead/Coordinate fiscal and monthly close activities with input and support from rest of finance team.
    • Provide support on financial analyses to help support Haas' strategic plan.
  • Coordinates and implements department budget allocations, conceives of and maintains department chart of accounts or other data management tools, and related business processes.
    • Coordinate deficit clearing
    • Allocations and post-allocation cleanup (related to budget)
    • Hierarchy updates
    • Payroll transfers and review
  • Gathers information, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial and / or resource plans, including annual resource allocation approaches, trended future requirements, operating forecasts, sources and uses, etc.
    • Work with CFO and Finance team to develop reports for:
      • Haas Board of Directors
      • Dean and Dean's Direct Reports (i.e., Management Team)
      • Town Halls
      • Other executive meetings, as applicable
  • Provides department support in the areas of business process analysis and design, system or procedure testing and implementation, documentation, security, workflow, and customer feedback.
    • Occasional input or support for system enhancements related to Budgeting and forecasting in CalPlan.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3-years experience of direct, progressive growth in financial planning and analysis.
  • Can effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner and practices active listening, and engages collaboratively with a broad, multi-audience constituency.
  • Under general direction, gathers required information to organize, and perform financial analysis assignments.
  • Proficient with MS Excel and other business related software such as Visio, Powerpoint and MS Project, for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
  • Excellent customer service orientation, critical thinking and political acumen skills to influence people of varying levels of authority throughout the organization to elicit cooperation without direct authority.
  • Demonstrates excellent collaboration techniques when working with peers throughout the organization, and as part of a high-performing team, leveraging the insights of others to optimize solutions.
  • Can adapt to changing priorities, demonstrating excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and time management skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues, students and team members.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in logical business rules associated with general financial systems and associated data structures.
  • Experience with ad hoc querying to utilize common data mining tools to develop custom queries to extract data from data warehouse.
  • Experience with contributing to and guiding change management and communications plans related to financial business process and financial systems changes.

Salary & Benefits

This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary will be commensurate with experience up to $101,500.00.
