Position Description:
Oversee Student Life Office and activities. Plan, implement and evaluate a comprehensive program of educational, cultural, and social events for the campus community.

Duties and Tasks:
  • Oversee all marketing for campus-wide programming.
  • Plan college-wide programs with Student Life Work Group
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive leadership development program for student club members and officers, organizations, interest groups and the Student Government Association.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive development program for faculty and staff club advisors.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate college-wide leadership conferences.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty and staff at the campus and college level to plan, implement and evaluate programs.
  • Manage Student Life budget and funding requests from recognized student organizations.
  • Hire, train and supervise full time, part time and student staff.

Special Assignments:

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a highly diverse student population.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to include students, administrators, faculty, staff, and community partners within a diverse and multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate collaborations with student groups, academic departments, administrative departments, and the community
  • Assist and advise students on program development and management, purchasing, college policies and procedures, and regulations related to student life programming

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work or other Student Affairs related field with some years of experience working with multicultural students in a college/university setting
  • Some years of experience in event planning; Experience includes planning, executing, and assessing social, cultural, leadership and engagement programming for college students in a higher education setting.
  • Some years of supervisory experience
  • Some years of budget management experience
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

  • Two or more year’s supervisory experience
  • Master’s degree in Education, Human Services, Event Management or other student life related field
  • Commonwealth of Virginia purchasing experience using eVA.
