POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

The Office of Research and Analytics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, (UTK) invites applications and nominations for our Data Analyst position. We are seeking candidates who can contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.

The Division

The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 170 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid and Scholarships, University Registrar, EM Communications, and Research & Analytics. The Office of Enrollment Management is committed to our Vision, Mission and Values. The Position

The data analyst supports the Enrollment Management division and University by supplying coordinated, actionable information to decision makers. This position evaluates market research on demand and growth opportunities to formulate insights and recommendations. Responsible for designing, creating, maintaining, and running reports from institutional databases. Accountable for cleaning, coding, and archiving survey, recruitment, and enrollment data. Responsible for linking data from multiple internal sources as well as importing and linking data from external sources. Performs the evaluation and testing of data and reports received from other offices, establishes automatic data verification, resolves data discrepancies, creates queries, and develops ad hoc reports.



Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Education and Experience:

•Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in technical research or statistical work in the collection, compilation, and analysis of data.

• Experience working in a higher education setting

• Demonstrated proficiency with SQL or a related programming language.

• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel. 

• A commitment to accuracy and an eye for detail.

• Demonstrated work ethic for successful management of multiple short-term and long-term projects, independent completion of projects with accuracy, thoroughness and creativity, and timely meeting of deadlines under pressure.

• Experience with complex data sets including manipulating, merging, restructuring and analyzing large data sets.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel

• Excellent verbal, written, numerical, and graphical communication skills

• Ability to create clear, accurate representations of data

• Ability to work quickly and accurately with attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Demonstrated ability to learn new software and continually acquire new competencies

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research, analysis, and statistical methods. 

• Working knowledge of SQL programming

• Working knowledge of Tableau software

• Working knowledge of Banner or another integrated student information system
