The Margaret Jones Wyllie ’45 Engineering Program is a close-knit community of students, faculty, and staff.   The nearby Lynchburg area is a growing community with many high technology companies including BWXT nuclear, Delta Star, Glad Manufacturing, Flowserve and others. Our engineering students and faculty have opportunities to engage through consulting, internships and design projects.

As an Equal Opportunity Employer, Sweet Briar College is committed to enhancing our community and encourages applications from qualified individuals with varied backgrounds, experiences and ideas who would increase the diversity of the College.

Organization

If you ask our students why they chose Sweet Briar, they'll talk about the academics, the beautiful campus, the welcoming community, the opportunities to get involved and to lead. Few, if any, will say they chose Sweet Briar because it's a women's college. Yet, many of our distinctive programs and opportunities are a direct result of our single-gender focus.sweet_briar_college2.jpg

Sweet Briar College prepares women (and at the graduate level, men as well) to be productive, responsible members of a world community. It focuses on personal and professional achievement through a customized educational program that combines the liberal arts, preparation for careers, and individual development. The faculty and staff guide students to become active learners, to reason clearly, to speak and write persuasively, and to lead with integrity. They do so by creating an educational environment that is both intense and supportive and where learning occurs in many different venues, including the classroom, the community and the world.
