Primary Purpose of the Position:
Fayetteville State University Broadwell College of Business and Economics is seeking applicants with credentials in professional or business communication for an open-rank, tenure-track position to begin in January or August 2022. Responsibilities include teaching courses in business/professional communication (undergraduate and graduate), carrying out an active research agenda, and engaging in university and professional service.

An earned doctorate in professional communication, business communication, technical communication, digital media, or a related area is required. ABD candidates will be considered; full completion of the degree is required prior to the start date of the appointment. The person hired will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate (MBA) courses in Business Communication and related courses in support of the concentrations offered in the Broadwell College of Business and Economics.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

· Participate in active scholarship, teaching, and service in the areas of business/professional communication including curriculum/course development, active academic research, assessment of student learning outcomes, and quality service.· Teach classes in Business communication with a 3/3 teaching load, as determined according to the college’s workload policy. Classes may include face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online delivery methods.· Engage with students by advising North Carolina Phi Beta Lambda Students’ Association, in national competitions, and student-run activities on campus, as well as engaging in project-based learning.· Actively participate in department, college, university, professional, and community service consistent with the mission and strategic goals of Fayetteville State University. · Apply a student-centric teaching philosophy, consistent with the mission of the university
· Develop real world and community projects

Earned PhD/DBA or equivalent from an accredited school in professional/business communication, management or closely related field prior to the start date; ABD’s will be considered
Minimum of two years teaching experience and a capacity and willingness to teach a variety of Management/Business communication courses
Record of scholarly and professional accomplishments consistent with the appropriate (Assistant/Associate) rank, including a recent and consistent record of publication in quality refereed journals.
Record of relevant non-academic work experience or project-based learning initiatives with corporations or government entities preferred
Willingness and ability to collaborate and consistently demonstrate high levels of collegiality
