Mission and Purpose of the Department
The overall mission of the Department of Psychology is to provide students with competitive and comprehensive instruction to prepare for a range of post-baccalaureate educational and career opportunities. We serve a culturally, racially, and economically diverse population of civilian and military learners from southeastern North Carolina, around the nation, and across the globe. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in psychology with options for concentrations in health psychology and work and organizational psychology through campus-based and online programs, and an online graduate program that includes Master of Arts degree in general psychology, and graduate certificates in behavioral research and professional psychology.
Primary Purpose of the Position:Minimum Education and Experience Requirements::
The Department of Psychology invites applicants for part-time adjunct faculty positions. Successful candidates will be entered into a pool to be selected to teach one to three courses in an area commensurate with their training and discipline in psychology. A successful applicant with a Ph.D. degree may also be approved to teach in the graduate psychology program. Duties and Responsibilities
· A teaching load of one to three courses on a temporary contract each semester. · Teach face-to-face or online classes as per departmental needs. For online courses, the instructor will be required to attend a virtual certification training provided the university during the first semester of teaching.· Develop and submit syllabus to Department Chair for approval prior to start of class · Submit interim and final grades as scheduled on the academic calendar· Maintaining consultation and meeting with students as requested/needed, for support of instruction and learning.· Attendance of Department, College, and University meetings, and other events as required by the university. Adjunct faculty living far away from campus may be exempted from attendance with approval of the Department Chair.
Ph.D. or Master’s degree with 18 credit hours in the desired teaching discipline. Experience with Online Education delivery is beneficial. All degrees must be from accredited institutions. Knowledge skills and abilities::
Individual programs require specific licensure/certification.
