Job Details
- Work in collaboration with the Director for Campus Engagement to create a comprehensive roster of visit programs that further the immediate and long-term recruitment goals of the college.
- Support other visit experiences, such as individual, virtual and department specific visits. Also in conjunction with the Office of Marketing, plan and manage graduation and other assigned campus events.
- Secure participation of various programming partners including: faculty, staff, administrators, student assistants, alumni, community and business representatives, Sodexo Food Service, Physical Plant, Security, campus reservations and others.
- Oversee on-site arrangements and manage comprehensive program operations before and during program events. Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on event days.
- Generate and analyze all necessary pre- and post-event agendas, letters and reports.
- Monitor and manage the operating budget.
- Train, supervise, encourage and motivate full-time staff members, student assistants, interns and program specific volunteers.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.
- 3-5 years of event planning experience desired. 5+ preferred. Desired higher education event planning experience.
- Familiarity with topics and issues related to higher education and college selection.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs required. InDesign experience preferred.
- Successful completion of a background check, in accordance with Coe College policy.
- Possess a strong working knowledge of the higher education landscape to successfully create programs that capitalize on the unique aspects of the college.
- Unwavering customer service ethic and high expectations for quality.
- Prioritize multiple projects with overlapping timelines.
- Analyze data to help drive decisions for new programs or enhancements to current programs.
- Detail oriented.

Organization
Coe College is a national, residential liberal arts college offering a broad array of programs in the arts, sciences and professions. The campus encompasses nearly 70 acres in the heart of Iowa’s second largest city, Cedar Rapids, and is adjacent to the MedQuarter Regional Medical District.
A member of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM), Coe enrolls 1,400 students and has approximately 415 full- and part-time employees. This includes nearly 90 full-time faculty members and 180 full-time staff members. The nine largest incoming classes in the college’s history have all come in the last nine years, with the most recent class totalling 436 students from 27 states and six countries.
The college offers over 60 areas of study with a 4-4-1 academic calendar including an optional May Term. Nearly all students live on campus all four years, and 90% of students are involved in one or more co-curricular activities.
Producing 32 Fulbright Scholars in the last eight years, Coe has been named a top producer of U.S. Fulbright students when compared nationally with all colleges and universities. The college provides a highly personalized approach to education with an average class size of 16 students and a student faculty ratio of 11:1. Coe is ranked among the top 20% of all colleges and universities (according to U.S. News & World Report), and hosts a Phi Beta Kappa chapter.
Coe’s nearly 70-acre campus includes 40 buildings and serves as an urban field station creating opportunities for students and faculty to research and study interaction of the city with the campus environment. An extension of campus includes Coe’s Wilderness Field Station, which is situated on 120 acres of land in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota.
Recent capital improvement projects exceeding $40 million in investments include the renovation and expansion of Coe’s athletic facilities, renovation of Hickok Hall, an addition to and renovation of Peterson Hall of Science and renovation of Stewart Memorial Library to create the Learning Commons.
