Nature of Work

Department of Ophthalmology seeks a full time (1.0 FTE) Assistant Professor to provide outpatient medical and surgical management of ophthalmic pediatric disorders and strabismus at The Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO) and University of Colorado Denver (UCD) affiliate sites of practice. 

Professional Field

MD with approved residency training in ophthalmology including fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology.

Supervision Received

The position will report directly to Emily McCourt, MD, Associate Professor, Department of Ophthalmology.

Supervision Exercised

Position exercises no formal supervision. 

Examples of Work Performed

Provides direct patient care at CHCO and UCD affiliates in the medical and surgical management of ophthalmic pediatric disorders and strabismus, resident teaching, and basic or clinical applied research. 

 

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $195,000 to $283,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements

  • Completion of an approved residency program in ophthalmology.
  • Must be Board Certified or eligible and have a Colorado medical license or be eligible. 
  • Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management of pediatric ophthalmic disorders is required. 
  • Must be fellowship trained in pediatric ophthalmology.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise and interest in retinopathy of prematurity is preferred.
  • Interest in pediatric cataracts and/or glaucoma is also desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge and proficiency in medical and surgical management of pediatric ophthalmic disorders and strabismus. 
  • Demonstrated interest in basic or clinical applied research.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
