Job Summary:

  • Eastern Washington University is currently seeking skilled applicants for the following position: Data Analytics Administrator. This position will develop and maintain data analytics for the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office (FinAid) using existing in-house tools and methods. Introduce new data analysis processes based on relevant industry and educational experience. Assist with business process analysis and creation of automated processes to modernize the delivery of aid and create efficiencies in overall processing time. Develop and maintain office reporting needs using Jasper Reports, Argos and Tableau. Partner with Enrollment Services units and Institutional Research as needed to exchange data and develop reports and analysis in support of institutional and Enrollment Services strategic goals. Assigned special projects and/or responsibilities based on operational necessity and individual experience and skills.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience including application development, maintenance and data analysis
  • Experience with SQL based data query language
  • Experience with statistical analysis software and scripting languages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency or diversity.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with a data visualization tool such as Tableau
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner ERP system, specifically with the Financial Aid module
  • Experience with ARGOS Report Writer or other report writers
  • Working knowledge of SoftDocs Content Management System or other imaging system
  • Pass the requirements to access all Federal and state aid related administration systems.

Responsibility / Duty: Build/Maintain Data Analytics & Information Dashboard
• Develop key financial aid performance indicators and customer service activity to allow FinAid to manage service models and leverage financial aid in an ever-changing environment.
• Leverage existing analytic, reporting and visualization tools to create reports and dashboards.
• Introduce and establish new analytic technologies to enhance FinAid’s ability to deliver business insights as they become available at the University.
• Develop and manage data analytic initiatives and programs for FinAid, including but not limited to project management and designing, executing and rolling out dashboards.
• Communicate data information via reports and presentations, including preparing qualitative and quantitative dashboards, reports, memoranda and spreadsheets.
• Support planning and decisions with ad-hoc analysis as required by management.
• Use business data and statistical methods to provide insight into performance and suggest areas and methods of improving or refining operations.

Responsibility / Duty: Build/Maintain Custom Logic and Reporting• Maintain and perform annual review of the custom logic programs written in SQL language;
submit programming requests for updates when necessary.
• Assist with data analysis, report creation and maintenance using Jasper Reports and ARGOS Enterprise Reporting applications.
• Assist FinAid Operations Team with an annual assessment oflogic used in Banner Financial Aid, Self-Service, electronic communication to students; testing at various stages and for final product.
• Assist FinAid Operations Team in testing and resolving functional and technical issues resulting from product upgrades including all aspects of Banner, Jasper Reports, ARGOS and SoftDocs,

Responsibility / Duty: Facilitate Process Automation, Workflow & Forms Enhancement
• Work with the Associate Director and /or other managers to prioritize and perform business process analysis to modernize the delivery of financial aid and reduce overall processing time.
• Based on FinAid business priorities, implement automation enhancements using existing tools including, but not limited to, Banner delivered functionality, Ellucian Workflow, UC4, Forms Fusion, and SoftDocs electronic forms/workflow.
• Participate in project sessions, decisions and action items.
• Follow-up with team members for project completion.

Salary Information: $53,458 - $74,846 - DOE
