DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Director of the Fitness Center, the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach, Assistant Director of the Fitness Center is responsible for furthering the mission of the University and the Department of Physical Education and Athletics. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with the design, implementation and supervision of the strength and conditioning programs for the 21 varsity sports at the University of Redlands and as the Assistant Fitness Center Director, perform a variety of administrative duties within the daily operations of the Fitness Center. The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach, Assistant Director of Fitness Center must comply with all University, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) rules and policies.

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist with the design, implementation, and supervision of strength & conditioning programs for all 21 intercollegiate athletic programs.
  • Assist with the oversight of the daily operations of the campus-wide Fitness Center.
  • Plan, execute, and maintain all aspects of the program's social media sites (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
  • Assist with the hiring, supervision, scheduling, and evaluation of the Fitness Center student employee staff.
  • Teach physical education activity courses in accordance with assigned load during the academic year.
  • Function as an active team member of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned or directed.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in physical education, kinesiology, exercise physiology, or a related field required and have a minimum of one (1) year of strength and conditioning coaching experience. Have a clear understanding of the NCAA Division III philosophy and the role of physical education, recreational sports, and athletics in a private, liberal arts academic setting. A current CSCS or NSCA-CPT certification is preferred. A valid driver's license is required. Upon offer of employment, a current DMV printout showing a good driving record will be required. Must possess First Aid and CPR certification at the time of hire. The successful candidate must have the ability to provide leadership and direction for staff, student-athletes, and the university community utilizing the facility. The ideal candidate will possess experience working with diverse constituencies and sensitivity to multi-cultural issues; ability to work productively in a collaborative environment to meet deadlines. Must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
