OUR PRODUCER/DIRECTOR IS…

A creative storyteller who is able to conceive, shoot, edit and stylize high-quality professional content for Montgomery College’s media distribution platforms. This person is a leader who is able to manage complex projects, lead teams or work individually, always perform at the highest level, and interact with stakeholders at all levels.

The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. This is a Bargaining, Non-exempt, grade 25 position. For non-exempt positions, you are not eligible to work a secondary job at Montgomery College. YOU ARE …

A self-starter, coordinator, communicator, and engaging storyteller.

An expert in:

  • Creating professional quality videos for broadcast, social and web, from idea conception, project planning, and scripting, to talent/crew and equipment coordination, facilities requesting and scheduling, testing, promoting, recapping or highlighting.

  • Collaborating and/or leading production teams to research, plan, design, execute and evaluate location, lighting, audio, video capturing, special effects, pre-production, as well as technical aspects of high-profile events.

  • Implementing social media tactics for MCTV social platforms, ad agency media buys, and digital media initiatives in conjunction with Social Media Manager, Digital Media Manager and Production Manager or Supervisor.

  • Serving as videographer for projects assigned, and the projects of other colleagues.

  • Editing video projects using recorded video footage from multiple cameras, as well as graphics and music to create aesthetically pleasing visual and audio.

  • Serving in role of Director for assigned projects. Select camera shots during live and live-to-tape recordings, for the purpose of compiling an interesting and stimulating representation of events, lectures, presentations, etc.

  • Managing day-to-day operational aspects of the project; communicate with stakeholders on an ongoing basis; ensure deadlines are met. Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change.

  • Providing daily or weekly data updates on work tasks assigned and completed using project management software.

  • Providing training in visual storytelling, writing and producing; technical, videography and production assistance for selecting and operation of equipment.

  • Staying abreast of best practices plus new and emerging production, design, animation, social media, editing and digital technologies by attending workshops, conferences and seminars, and through personal research.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Television/Production/Broadcasting, Educational Technology or a related field, and/or any combination of education, training and experience providing understanding of the field and the ability to perform the duties of the job.

  • Three to five years of experience in video production.

  • Intermediate level skills in digital videography, non-linear editing, graphic design and animation, and digital media workflows and formats.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of production equipment, systems and related software including Adobe Creative Suite, professional large and small format cameras, Microsoft Office Suite, YouTube and social media networks.

  • Professional knowledge of all technical and creative facets of video production and/or digital media technology.

  • Ability to plan and organize work initiatives to successfully accomplish unit’s goals and objectives, and to remain flexible as priorities change.

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience

  • Excellent project management and relationship building skills.

  • Valid driver’s license required and evidence of good driving record.

  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Foreign language fluency, speaking and writing skills strongly preferred; French and/or Amharic preferred.

Salary Range: $25.97 to $33.75/hour. Initial salary placement is based on candidate experience and internal equity. New hires do not typically start beyond the mid-point of the range.
