Description:

Tulane University School of Medicine Department of Surgery, is currently seeking a highly qualified Board Certified/Board Eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon­ to lead its Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery and its growing practice in New Orleans and the greater New Orleans area.

The successful candidate should be a mid-career level surgeon with at least five years of independent surgical practice prior to application. The ideal candidate will demonstrate extensive and progressive executive leadership experience, both as a clinician, educator, and researcher and should qualify for appointment as an Associate Professor, or a higher rank, at the medical school. 

This position will include strategic planning, providing clinical care via face to face and virtual modalities, supervising surgical residents, and providing operational and financial oversight of the procedural components of the section and the professional evaluation and quality improvement programs.  Opportunity for simultaneous or early recruitment of additional partners is supported.

S/he should possess the ability to promote innovation, inspire organizational excellence, a strong track record of academic performance, and demonstrated operations and planning experience in leading and developing a clinical outcome research and grants program.


Qualifications:

Candidates will be board-certified/board eligible and s/he must have formal training and significant experience in mitral valve repair, complex valve surgery, coronary artery bypass grafting and mechanical circulatory support, Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) implantation, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) and preferentially have been involved in clinical trials in at least one of these areas.

The applicant must qualify for a Louisiana medical license.
