Clinical Assistant Professor in Human Capital Education and Development

Location: Clemson University

The College of Education and the Department of Educational and Organizational Leadership Development at Clemson University invite applications for the position of Clinical Assistant Professor in Human Capital Education and Development (EDHC). This twelve-month position will begin as soon as possible. Clemson University is seeking candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service. Consistent with the University's land grant mission, the College of Education and the Department of Educational and Organizational Leadership Development (EOLD) are dedicated to promoting the growth, education, and development of all individuals, and engaging in high quality, applied research, and professional learning. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and engaged faculty committed to fulfilling this mission through research, teaching, and service in for profit and nonprofit organizations.

The new Bachelor of Science in Human Capital Education and Development is an interdisciplinary, comprehensive degree focused on organizational learning, assessment, and development, and prepares students for diverse settings across a variety of industries. Applying learning theory at the individual, organizational, and societal levels, this program enables students to design effective training, change management, and career development programs to meet an organization's or a community's human capital needs. This program will prepare graduates for careers in training and instructional design; community development, government, and non-profit organizations; and human resource and workforce analysis, research, advising, and consulting. This program will serve traditional Clemson undergraduate students but is also built to establish a seamless transfer pathway between two-year colleges and Clemson's College of Education. Engaging with two-year college students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders will be an important role for all faculty and staff engaged with the EDHC program.

This new undergraduate program will engage in an ongoing process of curricular and program improvement and to building partnerships and programs across and beyond Clemson University.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform program coordinator duties including but not limited to curriculum scheduling, marketing, recruiting, developing partnerships, managing internship and co-ops, and supervision
  • Plan and monitor performance against program goals and objectives, interact with internal and external stakeholders, and other related program coordinator duties
  • Teach undergraduate courses in Human Capital Education and Development (EDHC)
  • Develop high-quality curriculum and programs for EDHC students
  • Develop and maintain relationships with two-year colleges to support the recruitment and successful transfer of two-year college students
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with business, industry, government, and non-profit organizations to support curriculum development, delivery, co-op/internship experiences, graduate employment, and other program needs
  • Establish, oversee, and evaluate student co-op/internship experiences
  • Develop and implement marketing and recruitment materials for prospective EDHC students
  • As a member of the EDHC team, generate research, publications, and proposals for external funding (including grants, foundations, and/or contracts for professional learning), and engage in other scholarly activities
  • Provide service to the department, college, and university, as well as to scholarly and practitioner communities

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned master's degree in human resource development, adult education, or a closely related field; doctoral degree is preferred
  • Ability to teach undergraduate courses in Human Capital Education and Development with an emphasis on the scholarship of teaching and learning at the undergraduate and graduate level
  • Experience in and/or research on workforce development, adult education, human resource development, and/or educational or organizational leadership
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and/or communities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience coordinating academic programs
  • Experience building collaborative educational and business partnerships
  • Ability to develop interdisciplinary grant partnerships such as those with the Office of Teaching Effectiveness and Innovation, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and other colleges and programs across and beyond Clemson University
  • Facility with asynchronous learning, hybrid course development, and other online teaching methods
  • Demonstrated management experience in business, industry, government, and/or non-profit organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, develop, establish rapport, and work well with administration, faculty, staff, and students on collaborative teams
  • Experience with grant-funded research projects
  • Experience in collaborating with business, industry, government, and/or non-profit organizations
  • Additional areas of scholarship expertise include: adult learning and development; workforce and career development; communities of practice and learning; organizational learning and development; diversity and inclusion; leadership development; and other related educational leadership topics such as two-year college leadership and postsecondary preparation and access
  • Additional areas of teaching expertise include: educational and organizational leadership; professional learning and leadership; measures and evaluation; career and workforce development; and human resource development
