Coordinator and Special Assistant to the President
for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Meredith College, a private, residential women's liberal arts college and coeducational graduate school in Raleigh, North Carolina, seeks its first Coordinator and Special Assistant to the President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). This senior DEI professional will support people from a rich diversity of backgrounds--including but not limited to diverse academic experiences, socioeconomic levels, cultures, abilities, sexual orientations, genders, races, and ethnicities.

Reporting directly to the President, the DEI Coordinator will champion policies and actions that reaffirm the College's lasting commitment to being a healthy and inclusive environment. Meredith enrolls approximately 1,600 women in its undergraduate programs and 300 women and men in its graduate programs. Among its many honors, it has earned distinction as a "Best College" in U.S. News & World Report, The Princeton Review, and Forbes; and it is ranked in the top 25% of liberal arts colleges in the country by high school counselors, according to U.S. News and World Report. To learn more about this historic and innovative institution, please visit the Meredith College website.

The DEI Coordinator will serve as an advocate for students and employees, guide policy implementation, collaborate on curricular advances, lead or coordinate campus trainings, and consult on other DEI-related activities across Meredith's campus, becoming an integral part of shaping key elements of the College's strategic plan to advance diversity, equity and inclusion.

A bachelor's degree is required, with a master's or doctoral degree preferred, and a work history that demonstrates a minimum of three years of DEI experience, preferably in a leadership role. Higher education experience at the institutional and/or policy level is necessary. This person must be able to communicate general and even difficult information to campus constituents, and to articulate the theory, research, pedagogy, and assessment of DEI as a foundation for enhancing a culture of belonging. Although the search remains open until the position is filled, the Search Committee will begin to review applications in late October 2021; submission of applications is encouraged by October 26, 2021.
