Position Description:

The Department of Physical Therapy at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position on the Round Rock, TX campus. This position will be at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank for a nine-month appointment, with possible summer employment annually. All positions are subject to availability of funds. Rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Faculty responsibilities will include teaching, academic advising, scholarship, and service in the entry-level DPT program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience to support the vision of the Texas State University Department of Physical Therapy, “To be recognized in the region, state and nation as an outstanding physical therapist educational program with quality faculty members, staff and students;” and contribute to the mission of the department “to address the health needs of society through excellence in education, scholarship, service and professional practice.”

Required Qualifications:

  • A terminal doctorate degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., D.Sc., or comparable);
  • Clinical experience and scholarship to support expertise in graduate level teaching and research;
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching;
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI);
  • Licensed physical therapist who is eligible for physical therapist licensure in Texas; and
  • Record of accomplishments in scholarship, teaching, and service, appropriate for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor (less than five years teaching), Associate Professor (minimum five years teaching), or Professor (minimum of ten years teaching) in a Department of Physical Therapy.
The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on university and department established standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following areas: geriatrics, or adult neurology management, or acute care, or pathology, or cardiopulmonary management, or health promotion and wellness;
  • An active research agenda and the desire to expand research expertise;
  • The ability to collaborate with a variety of professionals within a university and clinical/community setting;
  • Post-professional certification in area of expertise with demonstrated teaching/scholarship in chosen area; and
  • Professional association engagement and commitment to professional and community service.
