Effectively implement the University president’s vision for a world class campus that attracts, inspires, and bonds people to CNU. We will monitor and maintain all existing and future irrigation systems, implement seasonal lawn care and horticultural programs. Ensure that these primary duties will emphasize aesthetic appearance and value, be environmentally responsible, and economically feasible.Purpose of the Position:
The Turfgrass Supervisor will assist the Director and Associate Director in the monthly and annual planning and prioritizing of turfgrass requirements; plan and supervise employees daily and weekly tasks related to: pesticide and fertilizer applications to turf grass areas; irrigation system operation and maintenance; aerifying, mowing, trimming, seeding, watering, of turfgrass areas to include all operation of equipment and equipment maintenance for the said tasks.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) and/or Competencies required and preferred:

Considerable knowledge of lawn care and horticultural products to include the safe, timely, and accurate application of pesticides and fertilizers
Considerable knowledge of seeding and sodding requirements
Ability to become a VDACS Certified Pesticide Applicator in Category 3-B within the first year of employment
Ability to read, understand, and implement pesticide and fertilizer product labels
Considerable knowledge of irrigation system operation, minor repairs, troubleshooting, scheduling, winterization and start-up, and inventory of components
Considerable knowledge of turf and landscape irrigation requirements
Considerable knowledge of various landscape and grounds maintenance tools and equipment
Must be motivated and have the ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision
Good writing and verbal skills
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be a VDACS certified registered technician. Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Preferred :
Experience Required: Considerable demonstrated and progressive experience with chemical and fertilizer applications. Experience with operation of all types of grounds maintenance equipment to include large equipment such as a backhoe.
Considerable demonstrated and progressive experience of grounds maintenance to include: mowing, trimming, seeding, watering, fertilizing, planting, mulching, pruning, trans-planting, and pest/disease control of turfgrass areas.
Supervisory experience. Experience applying pesticides to turf and ornamentals.
Education Preferred: Associate’s degree or higher in turfgrass, horticulture, or similar field. VDACS pesticide applicator with 3A or 3B endorsement. VDACS certified fertilizer applicator. Role Code:
Experience Preferred: Previous experience working at a resort or high-end landscape company with experience related to all aspects of grounds maintenance.
