Job Description:

Essential - Collect Survey Data:
Collects survey data using Robotic total station and data collector (or other equipment) with appropriate software.
Downloads information and reflect in a combination of computer-based platforms. Converts data to university mapping system & link with proper format. Assists in maintaining university map by location of underground utilities, buildings, roads, etc. using benchmarks/control points.

Essential Study Data:
Collects and studies data through field observations, reports & investigations. Investigates existing data, versus collected data and provides direction on the best solution if issues are found. Works with the Utilities Locate team to help provide location of university utilities for projects. Verifies as-builts of renovation & new construction projects.

Essential - Site Engineering:
Assists in site engineering to include proposed elevation of buildings, utilities, roads, parking lots & drainage locations. Assists & design new grading, piping and roadway plans by developing 3D models and provide to project manager for bid documents. Reads & interpret construction plans, topographic maps, and all utilities in University GIS maps. Installs campus benchmarks with precise horizontal & vertical data as needed. Serves as University contact for horizontal & vertical computations for various departments & contractors.

Essential - Safety:
Promotes a safe workplace and safe work practices. Responsible for compliance with all applicable University safety mandates and enforcement of LOTO policy, excavation safety and confined space entry safety. Adheres to all EPA/DHEC rules.

Perform other related duties as required.

Drives a State UF vehicle which requires incumbent possess and maintain a valid class “E” Driver’s License.

State of Florida Land Surveyor's license is required.

Position is considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy.

A Criminal background check will be conducted.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday 7:00 AM-4:00 PM

Expected Salary:

$55,000 - $60,000 Yearly based on experience

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from college or university with a degree in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying and/or a combination of education and technical experience in a related field which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties listed in the required qualifications.
Extensive field and office experience in land surveying and construction layout principles, practices and requisite
calculations.
Skilled with computer applications, including use of GIS, and other software applications to document survey work.
Demonstrated knowledge of deed and highway plan research.
Demonstrated skill in delivering exemplary customer service.
Experience with MS office products.
