Department Description:The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, founded in 1975, is a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center. The Center’s mission is to reduce cancer occurrence and death in North Carolina and the nation through research, treatment, training, and outreach.
UNC Lineberger’s Clinical Protocol Office is a centralized resource that supports the clinical research efforts of Lineberger investigators, primarily through the design and conduct of therapeutic clinical trials. The Protocol Office provides administrative, regulatory, data management, and study coordination services to investigators throughout the development, approval, and implementation processes of protocols conducted at UNC and its affiliate institutions. The Protocol Office is responsible for protecting the safety of patients participating in research, ensuring the quality of the research, and safeguarding the interests of the University. It also furnishes protocol-related information to health professionals and to the community at large.

Position Description:This position will provide clinical data management and data quality support for clinical and other cancer related research studies at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. The primary duties include data management, OnCore User support and training, and data quality and extraction for grant reporting.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Candidates must have excellent organizational skills and a facilitative approach, demonstrate initiative, write well and work well within a team. Must be able to manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines with attention to detail. Candidates are expected to have working knowledge and facility with information technology, the ability to organize and analyze information, and the ability to develop working knowledge of proprietary databases sufficient to ensure quality control and quality assurance tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with data analysis and data management in a clinical research environment.

Location: UNC is located in the heart of Chapel Hill, the best college town in America! It's a friendly town of about 40,000 in the geographical center of North Carolina. Chapel Hill is at the western point of the Research Triangle, an area of about one million people, comprised of Chapel Hill, the cities of Durham and Raleigh, and the Research Triangle Park, home of many corporate offices and scientific research centers. At the ATN Training center, students may take classes on software packages and utilities. Computer labs are available for student use all over campus.
Carolina Computing Initiative: Beginning with the freshman class of 2000, undergraduates must purchase laptop computers. The University has arranged for IBM to offer computers at excellent prices.
