Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. This position is a full-time, tenure-track position.
The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 135 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty in 7 academic departments. The College serves more than 3,300 undergraduate students in 27 majors and provides graduate programs in Biology, Applied Mathematical Science, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Computational Science, Computer Science, Engineering Physics, and Nursing. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
Duties include teaching day/evening, graduate/undergraduate classes in computer science and software engineering. The successful candidate will work with students in and out of the classroom and conduct active research in areas of computer science or software engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in professional activities. Other responsibilities will include serving on departmental, college and university committees.Qualifications
Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to TT-Instructor.
The candidate must have an earned Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field awarded by a regionally accredited institution by the time of employment. Previous industrial experience and U.S. college teaching and research experience are preferred.
All areas of study in computer science will be considered, with an emphasis on software engineering, computer graphics, and cybersecurity.
