Job Description:

Budget Title: Lead Programmer/Analyst (SL-3)

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Binghamton University is looking for a Lead Programmer/Analyst to join our Enterprise Applications team which is a part of the Enterprise Systems and Applications group. The Enterprise Systems and Applications group is responsible for the systems infrastructure and the development and support of many of the Universities' online systems. The Applications team identifies and builds solutions that are reliable, scalable and based on proven technologies by vendors such as Oracle, Ellucian, SAS, BroadcomCA Technologies, IBM, Internet 2, Apereo, D2L, and many others.

The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects including implementation and support of third-party vendor software and creation of in-house applications and processes. Work may be independent or as part of a larger team. Development initiatives are focused on web-based applications, web service requests, and integration with existing platforms and applications. Batch processing of data may utilize shell scripting or other interpreted languages. Experience with applications used in Higher Education such as Ellucian Banner, ODS, Workflow, and Oracle software is a plus. Experience with Java programming is also a plus.

The Lead Programmer/Analyst reports to the Assistant Director of the Applications Development team and will work closely with the Administrative and Academic departments, the campus community, and other key groups/staff members within Information Technology Services (ITS).

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Sciences, or a related field
• Must have relevant experience in integrating business systems and applications in a higher education environment
• Experience with Java, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience with relational database systems and SQL
• Experience with Linux and Shell scripting
• Ability to understand languages, tools, and frameworks such as C, Groovy/Grails, Java EE, JavaScript, PL/SQL, HTML, XML, Eclipse, and GitHub
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical skills, demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, and ability to deal with ambiguity in a changing business environment

Position Preferences:

• Experience in working in a large complex organization
• Experience working in a higher education or research environment
• Experience working with Medicat or other EHR system
• Experience working with Banner Student systems
• Knowledge of PHP or PL/SQL
• Experience with an Enterprise Identity and Access Management System
