Job Details

Part time position focused on building a strong bridge between the IHP and the professional community through the development and implementation of continuing education programs that are of value. The individuals holding these roles will be appointed by and will hold faculty appointments in their respective departments (SON, PA, OT, CSD, PT), with a specific task-based connection to the IHP CPD Office. The opportunity is to connect the academic departments and the Office of CPD with professional counterparts in the profession of focus.  In addition to coordination between the program and CPD, there will be coordination with a network of liaisons from across the IHP. 

One significant component of the Institute’s strategic plan is to increase enrollment in new academic programs and expand continuing professional development opportunities for practicing clinical and non-clinical professional within health care. This position will support the identification and development of continuing professional development opportunities within their respective professional discipline.

This position is currently funded through September 30, 2022 and continuing beyond this date is contingent upon additional funding

Expected Approach:

(1) Facilitation of continuing education planning around profession-specific topics, with extensive input from practicing clinicians.

(2) Planning and execution of CPD events and activities with the assistance and guidance of CPD staff and planning templates (identify topics, internal/external subject matter experts, and accreditation guidelines and requirements); (3) Being the point-of-contact for hearing and conveying important stakeholder voices:  Department, Discipline, CPD, Clinical Education Leaders.

(4) Participating in educating about and helping to identify opportunities for clinical placements  

(5) Along with the program directors, serving as a key liaison between CPD and their academic department and with the professional community. 

(6) Partner with other Liaisons to support interprofessional planning and programs.


Desired Deliverables/Outcomes: 

(1)  sustained cooperation among CPD, the Department, and IHP affiliates;

(2) delivery of several CPD activities each semester as agreed upon by the CPD office and the liaison 

(3)  Production of ongoing detailed work plans that contribute new ideas for relationship-building and for CPD topics;

(4) Meet target enrollments in all CPD activities;

(5) Identification of opportunities for new clinical placement opportunities in MGB affiliated institutions.

(6) Contribution to an annual report of program initiatives, participation, challenges, and opportunities. 

  1. Advanced practice registered nurse,  Licensed or license-eligible in MA,
  2. Doctoral degree degree preferred
  3. Experience with academic and/or clinical teaching (at least 3 years)
  4. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams
  5. Experience generating and using data (e.g. needs assessment)
  6. Experience with planning continuing education programs
  • Administrative Skills- Organized, responsive, timely, accurate professional abilities; adaptable, flexible thinker
  • Technical Skills-  Familiarity and experience with technologies for communication and teaching, including D2L and other learning platforms
  • Leadership skills: Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and relationship building skills; willingness to learn new skills for marketing and business-related functions; commitment to team based cooperation, planning and execution of projects; committed to core IHP values of interprofessionalism, JEDI, and quality.
