MURR is a campus research center which operates under the Office of Research. The internationally recognized University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is a 10-megawatt nuclear research facility and the most powerful research reactor located on a US university campus.
The Trace Element Epidemiology Group at the University of Missouri Research Reactor Center (MURR) is seeking a candidate to work in a trace element analysis laboratory. The core methodologies used in the group include Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) and Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). A background in chemistry, nuclear engineering, physics, or other STEM discipline is desired. The candidate will be responsible for:
*Tracking and maintaining inventory of materials to support research and analysis activities
*Performing routine analysis using ICP-MS and NAA methodologies.
*Assisting in the development and optimization of new analytical methodologies.
*Assisting in development, implementation, and writing of standard operating procedures to conduct analysis.
*Work with staff members and students within the group on large projects.
*Work closely with other groups (Health Physics, Reactor Operations, Engineering, etc) and students throughout the facility.
Salary Range: $47,476 – $56,936 annually

Typically M-F, 8-5 with some variation including evening and weekend hours possible (details will be discussed in interview).
A Bachelor's degree and relevant experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
