Job Summary:

The Part Time Computer Support Specialist provides positive customer experiences while supporting the Texas A&M University – Central Texas IT department. This position performs routine computer support functions such as system updates, computer imaging, software configurations, computer renames, etc. Physical demands of this position include the teardown, move, and setup of computers, printers, and associated peripherals from various offices/classrooms. The employee can expect to have to get under desks, reach far distances, and sometimes lift heavy objects. This position provides tier two and three helpdesk support to faculty and staff regarding computing hardware and software and therefore should have familiarity with performing basic to intermediate troubleshooting techniques.

Responsibilities:
- Provide tier two and three helpdesk support to faculty and staff in the use of desktop applications and hardware, to include printers, scanners, wireless technologies, and other peripherals.
- Perform desktop computer imaging, installation and repair services in compliance with established service delivery standards. Install, maintain, and troubleshoot various desktop computer applications.
-Assist and coordinate with end users about IT maintenance and new technology deployments.
- Under the direction of senior systems administrators and infrastructure management, assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of information technology systems.
- Guide end users in using documented security practices to protect University data and confidential information.
- Assist in developing documentation for internal use.

- Other duties or projects as assigned.

Education and Experience:
-High School Diploma or GED.
-Two years of related experience in IT.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of modern computer technologies and software, intermediate troubleshooting, formulating and contributing ideas, and client relations.
-Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Physical Requirements:

- Be able to lift at least 30lbs, climbing (ladder), bending, crawling, reaching; all activities in moderation.

Hours & Days: Up to 19.5 hours a week. Flexible schedule. Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, possible night/weekend hours.
