Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:Mission Statement: The Office of Research and Engagement provides support and strategic direction to faculty, staff, and students for research and creative endeavors resulting in scholarship, innovation, economic development, and community engagement. Fostering a culture of research integrity, the Office promotes a vigorous and robust learning environment, supports innovation, and facilitates reciprocal partnerships that transform the public research university for the 21st century, making a difference in the lives of students and the communities it serves.
Position Summary:Provide IT support for the Office of Research and Engagement as well as its 5 departments, 9 centers/initiatives, and several coalitions across campus. Positions require ability to provide technology support, web development support, solutions development, and work with a variety of clients. This Position will routinely work with Windows and Linux servers and needs a working knowledge of common IT infrastructure components.
Minimum Qualifications:- Position requires a Master’s in an information systems area or a Bachelor’s with 2 years experience.
- Experience in hardware support including mobile devices.
- Web design experience.
- Data Analytics experience.
- Experience in a higher education research setting.
- System in system administration, network security, database support, and client consultation.

Key Responsibility:Data Management and Analytics
Essential Tasks:- Designs, installs, tests, codes, and debugs data collection applications, servers, and infrastructure including the implementation of new versions of existing software or the design of new software and strategies to support the institution’s research mission.
- Works with Researchers to understand business requirements and liaises with other technical personnel to design, build, and clean datasets needed to accomplish those research goals.
- Uses data mining and statistical analysis to discover new insight within datasets.
- Creates data dashboards using a variety of software tools.

Essential Tasks:- Work independently to resolve hardware, software, and networking issues for end users.
- Analyze recurring problems and technical issues to resolve specific user needs.
- Maintain Conference Room technology and assist with hardware and software needs of conference room users.
- Provide training and step-by-step instructions for ORE staff and researchers in use of software and hardware.
- Document changes in the IT environment and assist with hardware inventory.

Although much has changed, some things remain the same. The university motto — “Service” — continues to be a guiding principle put into practice through all aspects of university life.
