Job Summary

This is a tenured track position and effectively teaches 12 hours of undergraduate Civil Engineering Technology courses per semester from an approved curriculum, with an assigned schedule; includes curriculum development to move the program to the next level, mentoring and advising CET students. Develops externally-funded research/education programs with publishable results; participates in SSU recruitment and retention initiatives. Works closely with students inside and outside of class; maintains required office hours to provide assistance to students individually and in small groups. Collaborates with other faculty and industry to ensure that the curriculum reflects current standards and industry needs.

    Plans, organizes, teaches classes, and incorporates teaching strategies that foster student learning, success, and retentionMaintains current instruction and discipline-specific knowledge through professional development, seminars, and conferencesAdvises students in matters related to academics, attendance, and behaviorCollaborates with other faculty and industry to ensure that the curriculum reflects current standards and industry needsWorks towards developing a research program with publishable results; development of externally-funded research/education programs
Required Qualifications

A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Doctorate degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Environmental Engineering. Applicants for the position are required to have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and to provide outstanding classroom and laboratory instructions.

Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution.

Preferred Qualifications

U.S. Industrial experience is desired; a Professional Engineer (PE) license within the U.S; experience in Autodesk and Bentley software packages; In addition to teaching Environmental Engineering courses be able to teach foundation courses in Civil Engineering Technology; experience in ETAC/ABET assessment requirements; a minimum of 2 years teaching experience from an accredited institution.
