Departmental Objective:

To provide food service support and management to the Catering department

Assist all Auxiliary Service departments as needed to carry out the University’s mission

Purpose of the Position:

This position is responsible for management and control of all alcoholic beverage concessions, bar service at catered events and provide set-up/clean-up of performance meals at the Ferguson Center for the Arts. This position will work closely with the Director of Catering and Catering Manager to provide bartenders for catered events. It will also provide accurate inventory and supply requisition of alcoholic beverages, concessions supplies and equipment. This position will be a key player on the Catering Department management team. It will provide excellent food and beverage service to guests, team members, faculty and staff at CNU.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) and/or Competencies required and preferred:

Ability to independently interpret and explain policies and procedures to students, faculty/staff, and the community

Ability to work a flexible schedule to include early mornings, days, late nights, and weekends (during the academic year it will mostly be weekend and nights)

Must be of age to pour alcoholic beverages

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Valid driver’s license

Experience Required:

Previous experience in a catering or banquet setting

Cash handling experience

Experience supervising and managing in a food service environment

Must have previous experience as a bartender

Must have experience working in a full service restaurant or full service catering facility

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Preferred :

Education Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in food service or experience that equates to a degree

Bartender training certificate

TIPS certified or have alcohol service training through the Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC)

Experience Preferred: Bar management experience

This is a classified position. New and returning classified employees are required to complete a 12-month probationary period;
