DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Physics at the University of Toronto is an important part of a dynamic academic community offering programs and courses to undergraduate and graduate students. We provide a comprehensive set of fundamental tools that can be brought to bear on many problems across a variety of fields. Situated in the heart of downtown, our department is affiliated with various departments, institutes, and research organizations, providing a broad network for our staff and students.

The Department of Physics at the University of Toronto invites applications for a Research Associate (Limited Term) for a two-year appointment. The anticipated start date is October 1, 2021. The Research Associate will have significant experience in the use of global coupled climate models and their application to the understanding of past climate conditions. Experience with the use of the NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research) Community Earth System Model (CESM) would be especially valuable. At least three years of postdoctoral experience beyond the doctoral degree will be required as well as a record of continuous publication in the leading academic journals of the field. The successful applicant will be expected to work closely with Professor W R Peltier on the CRANE Project (Computational Research on the Ancient Near East). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Three years postdoctoral fellowship beyond PhD

Education – PhD in physical climate modeling

Experience – At least 3 years of postdoctoral experience

Skills – Excellent ability in scientific software development and in scientific writing as demonstrated by published work
