Description:

The Behavioral Sciences Department of Flagler College is seeking a part-time instructor to teach undergraduate Research Methods courses at our campus in downtown St. Augustine, FL. The instructor’s primary responsibilities are to create an active learning environment that supports students’ in developing their understanding of research methods utilized in Behavioral Sciences and to increase students’ proficiency APA-style writing. 

Job Duties: 

•Teach assigned course(s) in Psychology, specifically Research Methods. Prepare a detailed syllabus for each course and distributes a copy of the syllabus to each student. The syllabus must conform to the requirements set forth in the Faculty Handbook and those that may be established by the Department Chair or Discipline Coordinator. 

•Maintain weekly office hours and is available to meet with students. When classes are in session, part-time faculty are expected to be on campus at least one hour for each course taught to meet with students outside class. These meetings may take place immediately before or after class. 

•Keep an accurate record of student attendance and reports excessive absences to the Dean of Academic Life 

•Maintain an accurate record of grades and submits final grades in a timely manner to the Registrar. 

•Use varied teaching and assessment methods. 

 


Qualifications:

•Master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in teaching subject. In exceptional cases, outstanding professional experience and demonstrated contributions to the teaching discipline may be presented in lieu of formal academic preparation. Such cases must be justified by the institution on an individual basis. 

•Previous teaching experience preferred but not required. 

•Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit good judgment in making decisions concurrent with   college policy. 

•Ability to work cooperatively with all constituents 

•Excellent written and oral communication skills and knowledge of course content
