Job Details
Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
•Serve as the primary operational leader of student affairs, managing the Coordinator of Student Leadership & Engagement and the Coordinator of Student Affairs. Provide staff development and office goals, promoting quality improvement and management for departmental operations.
•Address student issues or questions and escalate emergent concerns to appropriate departmental leaders. Refer students to the appropriate party within and outside of the student support areas, Work collaboratively with all departments across the medical school, university and health system.
•Oversee contract negotiation process for both external student events and all vendor purchases by managing staff members coordinating these processes.
•Oversee departmental budget, inclusive of student purchases, reimbursements, conference funding applications and office expenditures.
•Organize and update web-based content for the Office of Student Affairs section of the School of Medicine website to ensure easy access to information about resources, policies, and extracurricular information.
•Develop and promote a work culture that reflects a vision of excellent service in a student-focused professional environment. Act as the administrator for any ad-hoc committees, internally or externally, as defined by either the Assistant Dean for Student Services & Well-Being or Associate Dean for Student Affairs
•Oversee office administrative tasks and other tasks as assigned.
This position requires local travel and a flexible work schedule including early mornings, late evenings and potential weekends. This position is essential to ensuring various core operations within the Office of Student Affairs are maintained and effectively delivered for the betterment of our students and the School of Medicine. Qualifications:•Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field preferred.
•Must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others. Proven commitment to anti-racist work is preferred.
•Management experience required.
•Proven ability to exercise independent judgement, and have demonstrated experience in program creation, working specifically with policies and procedures with a higher education institution.
•Demonstrated ability in current software platforms (such as Microsoft Office, Google Docs and Zoom) and project management software.
