Job Description:

This position is located in the Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine. Under the direction of the Assistant Director, the Manager, Clinical Research will be responsible for managing all budgetary and fiscal matters related to clinical trials. The selected candidate will be responsible for negotiating clinical trial budgets with industry sponsors, negotiating the financial/payment terms of the Clinical Trial Agreement and managing all post award financials/invoices/reconciliations.

Essential Functions;

Pre-Award Clinical Trial Management
• The incumbent will work closely with our clinical research coordinators, Office of Clinical Research and Assistant Director to negotiate clinical trial budgets with industry sponsors.
• Works collaboratively with the Principal Investigator (PI), Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC), and ancillary departments to identify all the costs associated with the research study
• Works collaboratively with the study team to determine study team effort and research administrative costs
• Utilizes the research fee schedule to develop the per patient and pass through budgets for those billable items and services which cannot be billed to third party payers
• Negotiate clinical trial budget/invoice budgets with clinical trial sponsor
• Negotiate payment terms of the Clinical Trial Agreement (CTA) with sponsor
• Prepare financial analysis for proposed clinical trials to ensure financial viability of study based on enrollment projections
• Assistant with the execution of confidentiality agreements (CDA) and CTAs in UFIRST
• Functions independently and proactively with strong critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills.
Post Award Clinical Trial Management
• Maintains accurate accounts receivable and payable data
• Invoicing sponsors for services rendered
• Reconcile all electronic study payments via the university’s clinical research system
• Prepare monthly reports outlining financial status of studies, enrollment target, etc.
• Facilitates timely reconciliation and close-out of terminated clinical trial accounts
• Maintains, oversees, reconciles, and corrects errors in accounts. Processes clinical research and core bills for payment
• Partners with Clinical Trial team on budgetary amendment implementation
• Assist with clinical trial study financial closeout and residual balance transfers
Other
• Manage effort reporting
• Other Duties as outlined by the Assistant Director

Expected Salary:

$70,000 - $80,000

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in appropriate areas of specialization and two years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:Prior experience negotiating clinical trials with industry sponsors
Familiarity with regulatory documentation and clinical trials.
Strong financial background, extremely detail oriented and good communication skills.Special Instructions to Applicants:
