Front-End Web Developer
Position SummaryThe Front-End Web Developer will join a team of developers designing and programming websites and web-based database applications for the Division of Residential and Hospitality Services. Duties in this role include working with front-end design tools such as Foundation to realize design goals; incorporate designs into Drupal CMS; work with automation tools like Git; work with back-end web developers; communicate with customers to determine their expectations; and help programmers with user interface design. MSU Information Technology provides the primary leadership for strategic, financial, and policy initiatives affecting information technology (IT) across MSU. MSU IT offers technology resources that support MSU’s mission of providing education, conducting research, and advancing engagement. This includes providing opportunities and access for all people which incorporate differences of race, age, color, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, religion, national origin, migratory status, disability/abilities, political affiliation, veteran status and socioeconomic background.Unit Specific Education/Experience/SkillsKnowledge equivalent to completing a four-year college degree program; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in web development and design; proficiency with Javascript, HTML and CSS, Git; experience with a web development language such as PHP; proficiency with front-end development tools, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired QualificationsA strong background of front-end web development, using tools such as Foundation and React. Experience working with modern version control such as GIT. Experience with a content management system, Drupal preferred. Familiarity with accessibility requirements for the web.
