Position Summary:

The College of Engineering wishes to appoint a Post-Doctoral Fellow to work on a grant funded research project: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) – Engineering with Nature® Initiative for a period of 1 year with additional employment dependent on the needs of the project. In this role they will be work under the direct supervision of Dr. Brian Bledsoe, Georgia Athletic Association Distinguished Professor and Director of the Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems (IRIS), at the College of Engineering’s School of Environmental, Civil, Agricultural and Mechanical Engineering (ECAM). This invitation is for the candidate to join a multidisciplinary team of scientists at the University of Georgia who are engaged in a cooperative research project between the Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems and the USACE Engineer Research and Development Center.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position:

This project is highly specialized due to the incorporation of natural-based infrastructure systems. Candidates must have a PhD in engineering, hydrology, geomorphology, or related area; and are expected to have a demonstrated high level of expertise in modeling of hydraulics, sediment transport, and river processes. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate the ability and commitment to thriving in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment and the ability to conceptualize and implement high quality/high impact engineering research projects.
