Clinical Assistant Professor of Higher Education, University of Miami

The Department of Educational and Psychological Studies at the University of Miami invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Higher Education Administration and Leadership programs. This is a full-time, non-tenure track appointment. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses primarily in the higher education leadership Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) program, advising Ed.D. dissertations, and providing service to the program and department.

The School of Education and Human Development is a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to creating a center of excellence for the study and promotion of education, psychological, and physical well-being across all communities.

The Higher Education Administration and Leadership programs prepare students for transformational leadership roles. Our Higher Education Administration program offers master’s degrees in three innovative tracks: Enrollment Management; Student Life & Development; and Institutional Research & Policy Analysis. Our Higher Education Leadership program offers the Ed.D. through an intensive cohort model that allows professionals to study while maintaining their jobs and careers. Our higher education programs focus on preparing reflective, data-driven decision makers, practitioners with a strong theory-to-practice orientation, applied researchers, and leaders of colleges, universities, and related educational organizations.

Responsibilities:

Teaching graduate-level courses in our Higher Education Leadership Ed.D., including (but not limited to) Diversity in Higher Education, Enrollment Management, Qualitative Research Methods. Helping to lead doctoral student dissertations. Assisting the higher education leadership program director with program-related activities such as student recruitment and program assessment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in higher education or a closely related field earned by August 2022.
  • Experience in graduate teaching, specifically experience teaching practitioner-oriented doctoral students.
  • Experience advising and mentoring graduate students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in equity and inclusion, antiracism, and/or minority-serving institutions.
  • Research and teaching experience with qualitative methods.
