Teach applied piano, keyboard skills, and piano pedagogy courses, as well as other courses as assigned. Engage in recruitment by developing relationships with piano teachers and students throughout the state, and maintaining active membership in GMTA and MTNA. Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop the music program and the piano area, and contribute other service activities as needed. Maintain a professional development agenda including creative work and/or research. Maintain a focus on recruitment, retention, and progression.
Required Qualifications The successful candidate will have a completed doctorate, at least two years of teaching experience with college and/or pre-college students, and a history of active performance at a high level of musicianship. They should beable to demonstrate previous success in recruiting and building a piano studio. The candidate must be invested in working with a diverse student body.Preferred Qualifications College-level teaching experience, including recruiting for and running a piano studio and teaching classpiano, would be desirable. Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience in a secondary area such as collaborative piano, piano pedagogy, or music education, or the expertise to incorporate music technology into teaching and recruitment. Experience with repertoires outside of the Western canon and demonstrated experience in incorporating diverse subject matter would be highly valued.Proposed SalaryAssistant Professor, salary commensurate with experience
