Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary
Postdoctoral Researchers support teams of KSU faculty and students (undergraduate and graduate students), which engage with external collaborators from other universities, community members, government agencies, and/or private sector entities to stimulate innovation, capacity-building, and sustainability of research and scholarly activity at KSU.

This position is grant funded. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funding.

Responsibilities
1. Plans and executes experimental activities, data analyses, submission of reports or of manuscripts to peer-reviewed publications, and/or attendance and presentation of research findings at appropriate venues of dissemination.
2. Develops and contributes to new ideas for research proposals and directions within the research group.
3. Develops an Individual Development Plan (IDP) in collaboration with faculty mentor
4. Generates revenue by securing grants and participates in departmental and institutional career development programs, such as grant writing workshops
5. Prepares project budget and ensures funded project operates within budget guidelines
6. Maintains official records and documents, and ensures compliance with institutional policies, and federal, state and local regulations
7. Establishes working relationships and cooperative arrangements with internal and external partners
8. Engages in research and publication
9. Responsible for teaching qualified courses and may include lecture and/or laboratory components, as assigned

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Collaborates on research relevant to high performance computing with faculty and researchers from different disciplines
2. Performs research in a disciple that utilizes high performance computing systems and disseminate results as quality peer-reviewed research papers in national and international conferences and journals or presentations
3. Works with UITS for installation of utilities and software needed to monitor and conduct research
4. Assists or works with researchers and students to improve and optimize their code and configurations to utilize computational resources effectively
5. Assists users and collaborators in using computational resources effectively and efficiently.
6. Develops research, infrastructure or educational proposals with the Director of Research and other research faculty at KSU and assist in developing new projects
7. Trains faculty, students, staff and researchers on the utilization of high-performance computing system at KSU
8. Assists or develop informational documents, web pages or reports for the utilization and publicization of research computing at KSU
9. Leads or participates in outreach activities for research computing

  • Strong computational or data-intensive research in at least one discipline using high performance computing systems and single server systems
