We invite you to join our Adjunct Faculty in the Master of Arts in English with Gothic Specialization program. To teach in our program, you must have a terminal degree in English Literature. We are searching for instructors who can teach courses in Gothic Literature, Horror Novel, Victorian, and Modern Literature. The program stresses literary analysis, diversity, critical thinking, and written and oral communication skills through a rigorous curriculum of literature, composition, linguistics, and communication studies.

Note: This part-time Adjunct Faculty position will be teaching 4-week online courses.

Essential Job Duties:

    Lead classroom sessions on-site and/or online according to university policiesProvide expertise in assigned content area by maintaining current knowledge in the fieldRespond to student needs in a timely fashion or typically within 48 hoursProvide substantive feedback to students, grade assignments, and post grades Participate in online class discussion boardsEmphasize student-centered learning by promoting student inquiries and encouraging participation in their own learningMaintain a positive, safe, student-centric learning environment
Required Qualifications:

    Ph.D. in English LiteratureAt least year of experience in teaching or academic preparation for a terminal degree in English LiteratureMust reside and be eligible to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications:

    At least of year of experience teaching Gothic Literature, Horror Novel, Victorian, and Modern Literature. At least one year of experience working with Brightspace LMS

Physical Demands/Environment:

  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures and viewing a computer terminal and requires color vision and depth perception. The work is performed in an office environment and outside the office as necessary.
