The Promoting Effective Practice (PEP) Lab led by Dr. Heather Colquhoun invites applications for the position of Research Associate (Limited Term) in the field of Knowledge Translation and Implementation Science https://ot.utoronto.ca/about/core-faculty/heather-colquhoun/


The PEP Research Lab, led by Heather Colquhoun performs internationally recognized implementation research. We are seeking a research associate to contribute to our program of research examining multiple areas including evidence-to-practice gap analyses, the use of novel and emerging theories to promote evidence-based practice, and the use of intervention frameworks to optimize implementation intervention design and reporting. We are looking for a research associate with expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methods as well as experiences conducting knowledge syntheses.


Your responsibilities will include

  • Manage collaborative research projects involving other research groups in partnership with the PI
  • Designing, planning, and executing research projects, including qualitative, quantitative and knowledge syntheses projects
  • Conduct data collection and analysis in research studies and report findings in a clear manner
  • Present research findings to Principal Investigators and other members of the research team, as well as at local, national, and international conferences
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication in relevant and high impact scholarly journals


Other potential responsibilities include contributing to grant proposals and co-supervising student research projects (with the PI) within the Occupational Therapy program. The candidate will be expected to perform research with a high degree of independence and will design, direct, execute, analyze, and present in written and oral forms novel investigative studies that build on and/or take advantage of the resources and expertise within the lab as well as candidate’s academic expertise.


Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field (e.g. knowledge translation, implementation science, rehabilitation science or other related health profession program)
  • A background in rehabilitation is an asset
  • Familiar with and has strong skill sets in knowledge translation
  • Experience providing direction to research staff, students and junior researchers will be an important asset
  • Excellent writing skills, including impactful work from field relevant journals, and be able to prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals
  • Ability to work independently, while also working well as part of a collaborative team on group projects

This is a 6-month term position.
