The Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) is recognized internationally for its clinical, educational and research excellence. Our faculty are clinical and academic leaders who are breaking new ground on issues ranging from inner city health, addiction medicine, global health, palliative care, immigrant and indigenous health, and far more.

The Indigenous Health Partners Program (IHPP) includes a portfolio of capacity building, research and knowledge translation initiatives and works in partnership with Indigenous organizations and communities to generate programming based on global and Indigenous knowledge and evidence. The goal of the IHPP is to work towards improving the health outcomes of Indigenous populations in Canada through the development, implementation, customization, and evaluation of evidence-based healthsolutions in rural and remote settings.

As IHPP Monitoring & Evaluation Officer you will design, implement and maintain monitoring & evaluation (M&E) frameworks and associated outputs. This will include developing and implementing M&E tools and supporting the project team with application and usage. Your experience working in Indigenous and global health, excellent analytical skills, delivery of evaluation results and attention to detail will be essential for the project’s M&E activities and overall success.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and assessing requirements needed to meet project timelines, including implementing plans and process improvements for project activities
  • Formatting data collected for presentations and reports, drafting summaries of research project results as well as tracking and collecting information on project progress
  • Documenting and maintaining standard operating procedures and preparing standard project progress/status reports
  • Designing surveys, interviews and other research tools for program evaluation: receiving and passing on evaluation materials for review along with disseminating and collecting research surveys and questionnaire
  • Implementing and executing qualitative and/or quantitative research methods; conducting systematic literature reviews, analyzing results and preparing statistical reports

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social or Health Science, Statistics, Population Studies or a related field
  • Minimum (2) two years of related experience, preferably in a University, hospital and/or non-profit environment
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, implementation and maintenance of evaluation projects in Indigenous and/or global health
  • Demonstrated experience working in cross-cultural settings and building collaborative relationships with Indigenous organizations and communities
  • Experience in designing tools and strategies (e.g. dashboards) for data collection, analysis and production of evaluation reports
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to problem solve and deal effectively with multiple priorities with conflicting deadlines while maintaining a high degree of quality and accuracy
  • Ability to work well independently but also as part of a team
  • Expertise in analyzing data using qualitative and quantitative statistical tools and/or software (e.g. NVivo, Stata, SAS, SPSS)
  • Advanced skills in MS-Excel, Access and PowerPoint


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Postgraduate training in monitoring & evaluation (e.g. Masters of Public Health, Masters of Science) or equivalent work experience
