POSITION OBJECTIVE

Working under limited supervision, the Wellness Manager is responsible for the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs to meet the prevention and lifestyle behavior needs of the faculty and staff population with the goal of improving the overall health of the organization. This position is responsible for development and delivery of all marketing and social media messaging focused on wellness. Serving as a wellness guide for the campus community, this position develops and manages all relationships with the Wellness Champion network.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Design, plan, implement and coordinate logistics for University Wellness activities and programs to promote health awareness, knowledge attainment and stimulate lifestyle behavior change. (25%)
  2. Independently manage Wellness Champion network. Facilitate, monitor, support, document and evaluate all training and programs promoted by the Wellness Champs.  Create structure for Peer Wellness Committees, led by those Champions and monitor and evaluate their work to enhance the culture of health on campus. (15%)
  3. Collaborate with schools, stakeholders and supervisors on needs and strategies to support the University’s culture of health. (5%)
  4. Partner with student wellness team once each semester to offer a university-wide wellness initiative (e.g., challenge, program, etc.). (10%)
  5. Analyze and evaluate health and wellness program data and research health and wellness education trends (including state/federal legislation) to ensure that goals are met and multi-year priorities are addressed. (5%)
  6. Collaborate with university marketing & communications division and manage all marketing and communication for wellness program activities and services to ensure widespread awareness across the university, to increase employee engagement and motivation, and to reach all targeted audiences (e.g., program emails, newsletters, program website, social media, etc.). Maintain central calendar of all Wellness Programs. (10%)
  7. Prepare post-program reports.  Track and monitor programs on a monthly basis. Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, utilization information, and other data for Director. (10%)
  8. Manage database tracking all participants in all programs and services. (10%)
  9. Partner with Benefits and the Professional Development Center to offer wellness programs and activities during annual university-wide events (e.g., Benefits Open Enrollment Fair, Party of the Quad, Employee Appreciation Day, etc.). (5%)
  10. Develop, deliver and evaluate health education and wellness programs on campus for faculty and staff (in person and/or webinars). (5%)

CONTACTS

Department:  Daily contact with Medical Director.

University: Daily contact with Human Resources department staff; university faculty and staff.

External: Daily contact with vendors and university contract agencies and staff. Contacts with colleagues for networking and professional development.

Students: Infrequent contact with undergraduate, graduate and professional school student interns.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Supervise Wellness Champion Network.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:  3 to 5 years of related health and wellness experience including program development and delivery.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited college or university required.  Health promotion, exercise physiology, nutrition, public health, health education and/or nursing degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and knowledge of website development (Drupal environment). Facility with social media (i.e., Facebook, Instagram) and other communication methods necessary.
  16. Handles and maintains confidential and sensitive information with proper care and professional discretion.
