Periodically, the Learning Support Services (LSS) Department at SIUE may have various openings throughout the year for Administrative Lecturer/Adjunct Staff, non-bargaining, term positions to teach developmental math/writing/reading/study skills courses through LSS.

Learning Support Services is dedicated to helping the underprepared prepare, the prepared advance, and the advanced excel. The department provides direct instruction for students and serves as an instructional support and resource unit for faculty, staff, and the community at large. Learning Support Services is home to the Tutoring Resource Center, Writing Center, and Supplemental Instruction. The Math/Writing/Reading/Study Skills Adjunct Staff position is responsible for all aspects of teaching assigned classes; planning, preparation, teaching and evaluation. Tutoring of individual and/or small group sessions with students; conferences with students; attend unit staff meetings; observe office hours; prepare lessons, examinations; evaluate student performance in class, and assign grades; participate in staff development activities; provide informal academic counseling, as appropriate, for students in enrolled courses; perform other related duties as assigned by unit director & area supervisor. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the department.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

-Master’s degree in related subject area; Bachelor’s degree with appropriate experience will be considered.
-Interest and experience in working with educationally disadvantaged students would be beneficial.
-Good communication skills and willingness to employ adaptive learning strategies and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer person with Master's Degree in subject area with good communication skills.
