Responsibilities:

The University of Puget Sound seeks applications for Assistant Professor of Public Health to begin in Fall 2022. The successful candidate will develop and teach courses in a new Master of Public Health program. The University of Puget Sound MPH program develops student to be competent in public health, with a health equity focus, in order to prepare culturally responsive graduates who will promote health equity and community wellness, and work to prevent injury and illness.

We are interested in candidates with expertise in public health policy, leadership, and/or systems, with a health disparities perspective. Applicants should have documented ability to develop and teach the following courses: Healthcare Systems & Policy; Public Health Leadership and Interprofessional Practices; and Health Disparities and Vulnerable Populations. Depending on the successful candidate’s interest, additional courses could include: Environmental Health, Integrative Learning Experience, Special Topics, or other courses in the MPH program. Standard teaching load for faculty is 6 units per academic year (e.g. three courses per semester). Candidates are also expected to engage in advising, research, and professional development in faculty member’s area of expertise, and contribute to Puget Sound’s institutional mission through program and university service. Candidates are also expected to conduct research that engages with the community and/or provides learning opportunities for students.

Qualifications: Doctorate or PhD (ABD considered) in a public health, health systems, health policy, or closely related field.
