The NYU School of Professional Studies seeks an Associate Dean and Clinical Faculty member to lead its renowned Schack Institute of Real Estate.  The successful candidate will be a committed educator and industry leader with evidence of significant contributions both in academia and real estate.  The School of Professional Studies is actively seeking candidates who have experience working with a diverse base of professionals and/or teaching a diverse population of students.

The NYU SPS Schack Institute of Real Estate is among the largest and most prestigious educational entities dedicated to the real estate and construction industries.  Schack’s esteemed reputation attracts students from around the globe and sends its graduates equally far afield.  The faculty, thought leaders and expert practitioners combine theory with real-world applicability in their curricula.

Schack offers innovative undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education studies.  The undergraduate program attracts highly qualified traditional-aged students, and is unique for fully integrating a liberal arts education with rigorous, professionally-focused offerings.  Schack’s three Master of Science degrees accommodate both full-time and part-time students, and equip them with the skills necessary to address the evolving needs of all areas of the real estate industry, including real estate finance, capital markets, construction management, REITS’s, and global development.  The Institute offers numerous continuing education courses, and sponsors invitational lecture series and conferences, including the Conference on Capital Markets, the REIT Symposium, Women in Real Estate Symposium, and the Sustainable Real Estate Conference.

Located in Midtown Manhattan, Schack’s 16 full-time and 175 adjunct faculty members, along with a cadre of distinguished lecturers, prepare 800 matriculated undergraduate and graduate students to become leaders in their chosen fields.  In addition to the exceptional academic preparation, the Institute is also known for its strong ties to industry.  Members of its Advisory Board are titans in real estate and construction fields across New York City and the country.  Schack’s Alumni Association is an extensive global network of professionals in positions of influence.

The Associate Dean will have a vision for the academic and strategic direction of Schack.  They will lead the faculty in developing rigorous curricula rooted in strong pedagogy.  They will also provide administrative oversight over the unit and manage a large staff of dedicated professionals.  The Associate Dean will work collaboratively with other units across the School.  The position reports to the Dean of NYU’s School of Professional Studies.

The successful candidate will possess advanced academic and professional credentials (PhD or comparable advanced terminal degree preferred), a minimum of 10 years of substantial direct professional and academic experience, and be qualified to hold a contract faculty position. The Associate Dean must be committed to advancing the global presence-and global character-of the academic programs, to developing the future leaders of real estate and construction industries, to growing the identity and reputation of the Institute, and to supporting the School’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Additionally, the Associate Dean will have experience in developing and managing boards, fundraising and development, and creating strategic partnerships.  The position comes with a three-year renewable contract.
