Position Description:
The UCLA Labor Center combines research, education, and public service to address labor and the changing workforce. Established in 1964, the Labor Center has an excellent reputation for securing foundation and government support for research, education, policy, leadership development, and publications.

The UCLA Labor Center is seeking a Director of Development to work with the Labor Center Director and staff to secure external resources from foundation and government sources, and to cultivate and solicit private foundations for the Labor Center. The Director of Development must have initiative, self-confidence, determination, and experience working with highly productive and collaborative teams.

Under the direction of the Director of the Labor Center, and in consultation with the Director of the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment, the Director of Development will establish long range plans, develop constituencies and identify prospects for contracts and grants from foundation and government sources, develop concept papers, letters of intent, and grant proposals, identify and cultivate prospective donors for private support, identify a core group of prospective donors for major gifts, and prepare for and participate in major gift solicitations.

In the 2007 edition of U.S. News and World Report, UCLA Medical Center was ranked best in the West, as well as one of the top 3 hospitals in the United States alongside Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
