The Financial Services Manager reports to the Controller. This position supervises the Accountant Lead and Accountants. Exercising independent judgment, discretion, and decision-making, this position manages the College’s day-to-day business operations, including accounts payable, purchasing, and cash/debt management, and assists with annual budget and audit. This position ensures compliance with College policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

Hire and provide supervision, leadership, and mentoring to Accounting team, including job assignments, work schedules, staff evaluations and promoting staff development activities for assigned staff.Day-to-day management of accounts payable, purchasing, and cash/debt management.Review and monitor the College’s budget, lead preparation of annual College Budget & Planning document, and meet and/or communicate with individual teams as needed.Coordinate College audit and Consolidated Annual Financial Report (CAFR) preparation, including post-retirement benefits, statistical report preparation, cost allocation reconciliation, UFFAS, and eZ Audit.Maintain chart of accounts.Keep current with all new and existing financial accounting matters including GAAP, FASB and GASB.Support and work as backup for the Controller in selected areas.Build positive and effective relationships within NTC and with external partners. All other duties as assigned.Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.Four (4) years of professional work experience in financial management, budgeting, and accounting, including knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations. This individual should understand governmental accounting as it relates to general ledger accounting, state and federal reporting, financial statement preparation, general ledger entries and the overall reporting of governmental funds. Must have proven experience in working with and improving financial processes and procedures. Must have excellent skills and experience with spreadsheet and word-processing software. Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Must have superior customer service skills and the ability to positively and pleasantly interact with customers, colleagues and staff alike, both verbally and through written communications.Valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license including insurance coverage in accordance with College policy.

 

Preferred:

 

One (1) year of supervisory experience.Four (4) years of public sector professional work experience in financial management, budgeting, and accounting, including knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations.Previous work experience with PeopleSoft or WorkDay software applications.Physical Demands
