Assistant Professor

Want to teach and do research in a vibrant liberal arts environment surrounded by motivated and passionate individuals? The department of Computer Science at Loyola University Maryland is looking for you! We seek an enthusiastic individual committed to excellence in undergraduate education and a continuing, productive research program. Candidates in all areas of specialization will be considered, with priority given to those interested in first- and second-year teaching, or specializing in Computer Science theory. The successful candidate will teach a wide variety of computer science courses ranging from introductory to advanced level, and participate in new curriculum development.

Our department offers an ABET accredited B.S. In Computer Science as well as a more flexible B.A. in Computer Science. We also support Loyola's undergraduate and masters-level Data Science programs in addition to supporting interdisciplinary majors across the campus. Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate will:
  • Have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field;
  • Be able to teach across the computer science curriculum;
  • Demonstrate the potential for signicant scholarly activity and excellence in teaching; and
  • possess an awareness of and interest in high impact practices in line with the mission of Jesuit higher education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience in first- and second-year courses or in Computer Science theory is preferred, but not required. We seek candidates displaying a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, including engagement with high impact practices.
