The Saturday and Summer Enrichment Program at the School of Education and Human Development is looking for Lead Teachers for its on-site Saturday program in Charlottesville, VA. The program lasts over six consecutive Saturdays from January 22 through February 19, 2022, with February 26 reserved for a snow make-up day. Due to the uncertainty with Covid-19, if it is not possible to offer the classes in person; we will cancel the program or run the program remotely. You will need to complete the Youth Protection Policy training, meet for orientation training, write a mini-unit curriculum, and teach classes to students in grades K through 5. Course proposals are required as part of the application, and courses can be in almost any subject, including, but not limited to:

Architecture
Biology
Chemistry
Economics
Engineering

Literature
Math
Music
Physics

Sociology

Archaeology
Technology

Required qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of relevant education, experience, and training
  • Experience teaching or performing the discipline or craft in the content area of the course being taught
  • Ability to work with and support students from diverse backgrounds is required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience teaching K-12 school age children in a classroom setting or experience teaching at the university level
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and classroom management

COVID Vaccination Requirement
